Three UFO's finished in January!

I signed up on Carrie's blog www.apashionforapplique.blogspot.com to finish some UFO's.

I got the three done and here they are:

I hope to have a better picture of the big one in a couple of days. I'm delivering it to it's recipient tomorrow and there's a story to tell. More later.

Thanks Carrie for giving me the push I needed to get busy with some finishes.

Baby on the Way!

I just wanted to share this announcement my daughter and son-in-law shared on Facebook! She's a professional photographer and comes up with all kinds of clever ideas.

A Finished UFO!

I finished this little quilt yesterday. It will be given to my quilt guild who distributes quilts to kids who need them. I made one almost like this 2 years ago and cut the strips for this one at the same time. They've been hanging on my design wall all this time. So Carrie
at www.apashionforapplique.blogspot.com here is my second one for the month for your UFO Challenge. I'm happy to have it done. And my third one is done, too! Just gotta get someone to hold it up for a picture.

Our grandson Timothy spent Saturday night with us so he was happy to hold this one for me. He's so happy to have us to himself (without his 2 brothers) that he will do anything! We had a great time. Tim and I have figured out this grandparenting thing-- they only spend the night one at a time. Unless there is a need for all 3 to spend the night. It's just a little harder with all three. We raised 3 kids, but we're a bit older now!

Jenny Beyer design

My friend Cindy in Reno made this beautiful quilt top! I'm helping her out by getting it to a quilter that I use. We can hardly wait to see what will be done with it. I showed it at my quilt guild and there were lots of oooohhhhs and aaaahhhhs. I can see a prize in Cindy's future!

New block

I just finished the second block of the new hand appliqué quilt I'm making.

Here it is and also with the first block. Designing as I go.  By the way, the flowers are Kim McLean's design.  I'm using them from my last quilt.

Oklahoma City Quilt Show

Some of my quilting buddies and I went over to Oklahoma City on Thursday for their annual quilt show. We had a great time looking at the quilts, shopping, working a little in our guild booth there and enjoying each other's company. Here are just a few pictures. As you can see, I really like the bright colors.

Entryway quilt

I try to change out the quilts in my entryway at least 4 times a year. Last year I did it twice and didn't hang this heart quilt. I don't like the way it hangs because the border is wavy and it looks crooked because I used a plaid fabric in the border. But otherwise, I love this quilt and thought it was time to put it up again. I've posted pictures of it before, but here it is again......just because I LOVE red and some of you may not have seen it. Hand embroidered, machine appliquéd and beautifully quilted by Donna Titsworth. Matching table runner....ditto.
Oh....and by the way....it's flannel.

UFO (unfinished object) Challenge

I just finished my first UFO for the challenge sponsored by Carrie at www.apashionforapplique.blogspot.com

So here it is in the hands of daughter Calista who was supposed to receive it for Christmas. Front and back, label in place, and hung on the wall by her husband using my favorite hanging rod "Hang It, Dang It".     (And of course, the pictures are not in order!).  It was beautifully quilted by Kat LeFevre.

One down, two to go (for this month).

Paducah

I sent my quilt to Paducah, Kentucky yesterday. It's hard to let go of it so I prayed a little prayer that it would arrive safely. It will be on display in a special exhibit, "Quilts of the South Central US" at the NATIONAL QUILT MUSEUM from January 17 through April 2. I can hardly wait to go see it there along with 2 others from Tulsa. Quilts from Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma will be in the exhibit. Stop in if you're in the area. It's a wonderful museum. Make sure you see the quilt that is carved out of wood. You won't believe it!

UFO Challenge

I'm joining a UFO Challenge by Carrie here:  http://apassionforapplique.blogspot.com/?m=0

So here are my three UFO's that I hope to finish this month.

The little house wall hanging was supposed to be a Christmas present for my daughter. I need to finish the binding and get a label on it.

The big quilt (shown as a pile on the floor) needs to be trimmed, bound and a label added.

The last one is a little harder to explain. The strips were cut and added to my design wall about 3 years ago. I had planned to put it together and give it to my guild for our Hearts and Hands program. We give quilts to kids who need them. So you can see the strips hiding under everything else that has been stuck up on the wall (lower left). I took another picture of some of the strips after I managed to unbury them.

Happy New Year

Hi! I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and are already enjoying 2013.

We had a good Christmas and ended it with rejoicing with our younger daughter and her husband that they'll be giving us a new grand baby in August. That's the best present ever!

I got some nice fabric pre-cuts from my BFF AND my BFF's husband (he and my husband have learned that fabric makes us happy). My husband also gave me some. AND he gave me the ring to match to necklace he gave me 2 years ago. He's a GREAT guy!

We spent a couple of days in Missouri looking in on hubby's stepdad and got to enjoy one of the most beautiful snowfalls I've ever seen. My sister and I spent one whole evening driving around taking pictures of it and ended our evening making snow ice cream in the hotel.

My Christmas decorations are still up but my oldest daughter has promised to come over tomorrow to help take them down. The grandsons are still on break and I haven't seen them for 8 days so I'm sure we'll have a good time.

So here are the pictures, in no particular order because I STILL don't know how to do that on my iPad. Oh we'll! Maybe I'll learn in 2013!
