Tim's Mom, Carol Maples

On Tuesday, we buried Tim's mom, Carol Maples. She had been sick since November 1 or before but nothing could prepare us for this past week. Please continue to pray for our family as we grieve. I plan to post more later, but we just got home tonight and we are exhausted.

Laury Livengood Blair

I try really hard not to get too "heavy" with this blog. My main objective originally was to show pictures of quilts and throw in a few family and fun pictures. But today, I need to be a bit emotional and talk about one of my quilting friends. Laury Blair owned a quilt shop in Potosi, Missouri. Potosi is the county seat where I grew up. We pass within a few feet of the shop everytime we go visit our folks (which has been a lot lately). So needless to say, we stop almost every time so I can see what fabric Laury has and to visit with her a bit. We've known each other since we were young teenagers--we were in 4-H clubs together and went to some camps and other 4-H events. Her name then was Laury Livengood--isn't that a cool last name? I found out today that Laury was killed in a car accident Sunday. She was 54 years old and leaves her husband Dennis, 2 daughters and a sweet little granddaughter who is about a year old. Laury loved fabric, quilts and antiques. She's pictured here modeling a cool retro coat she had for sale in her shop. I know she will be missed by MANY people including me. I hope to see her in heaven one day.

Mile High (and more)

We spent last week in Colorado, first in Denver for a convention and other business that Tim had. We enjoyed the mountain air (even though it was quite chilly most of the time). After we left Denver we headed for Golden where I got to visit the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum. Then we ended up in the little town of Leadville for a couple of days. We were at over 10,000 feet elevation so we found breathing to be a bit difficult. Here I am in front of the hotel we stayed at in Denver.

This is the Arkansas River in Silverthorn, Colorado. It's a lot prettier there than it is here in Tulsa. We stayed near where the Arkansas starts and is narrow enough to step across. The state is beautiful and full of God's wonders (and some very nice highway patrolmen). We got home in the wee hours of the night after only a short delay on the straightest, flatest, ugliest (did I say that?) part of Oklahoma. I'll just say that Tim's car CAN go REALLY fast!!! (There are no bathrooms out there and no bushes or ditches either!)

Timothy's school program

I couldn't resist posting these adorable pictures of Timothy at his end of the year program for his pre-school. Andrea took them with her LONGGGGG lense (sorry, Calista that you haven't seen these yet!) Kazoos and shoes--I guess they go together.

This is my favorite. Notice the dimple and the little girl in front of him.

The cutest 4 year old in the world!!!
On a sad note...Timothy's teacher's husband passed away and the funeral was yesterday. Because we all just called her "Miss Cathy" we didn't know what her last name was. It turns out that her husband was Rick Clark, the attorney who represented our family through some tough situations. He was the father of nine and was the adoptive father of the year a couple of years ago. Please pray for his wife and children as they grieve the loss of their husband/father.
