June finish

The night before my elbow surgery I hurriedly put the binding on this little wall hanging so I would have one UFO finished in June for Carrie's challenge:  apashionforapplique.blogspot.com
It's ready to hang on the wall somewhere upstairs.

Andrea's FIRST baby shower

Yesterday I was able to get out and go to my daughter's first baby shower.  This one was put on by her friends who have something to do with the wedding industry.  Andrea is a photographer and these gals know how to throw a party!  How about this beautiful cake?!!
Yesterday was also my number one daughter's birthday.  She's the one who introduced me to the most wonderful job I've ever had--motherhood!
Here's the new "soon to be" mama.  Isn't she lovely?
I gave her the first quilt at this shower.  I got the second one back from the quilter and will give it to her at the second shower.

Surgery

My surgery went well yesterday.the doctor told Tim that it was exactly as he expected. He trimmed off the frayed tendon, scraped the bone and reattached the tendon to the bone.  I have no use at all with my right hand.  It's completely dead.  I should regain feeling by tomorrow.  My arm is in a sling and heavily wrapped until July 1.  So far pain is minimal. I'm thankful for my touch pad on my iPad!  I'll be reading lots of blogs in the next week or so!

Bummer Elbow

I've had trouble with my right elbow for quite some time now, off and on.  The doctor has put shots in it.  Then he's put ultrasound guided shots in it......several times.  Finally, I had an MRI this week and found out I have a "significant tear in a tendon".

So the doctor says I can give up quilting or I can have surgery on it to repair it.  Hmmmmmm.......let me think about that.......NOT!!!!   So, this Thursday, I'm having the surgery.  I want to get it over with to be healed up in time to help Andrea (daughter #2) when baby Nola arrives in August.

So this weekend, I'll be working like crazy to get the bumper pads and sheets done for the nursery..And labels for the quilts...And floor mopping....And Father's Day dinner preparation....AND......I think I'll go back to bed!

And in the middle of this, I got new carpeting this week and things are not all back where they should be....and I've been researching and test driving cars to make a trade soon.   Yes, I think I'll go back to bed!

Nola's 2nd quilt

I finished the hand appliqué and pieced Nola's 2nd quilt.  This will be the one used to decorate her nursery.  My daughter picked out the pattern, chose some of the fabric and has seen a few of the blocks but I'm keeping the "done" quilt as a surprise until her 2nd baby shower on July 14.  I guess ill find out if she reads my blog....but i don't think she does...at least not often.

So after church today I'll meet Donna T. somewhere and I'll hand it off to her to quilt.  Donna lives a ways out of town but works in downtown Tulsa and goes to church just a mile from where we go, so we've done these hand offs many times.  My husband calls them "street quilt deals" and is sure that someday this kind of thing will be reported on the news just like drug deals!  If he only knew how much like a drug quilting is!  (I think he probably does).  Sometimes we meet at one of our churches; often we meet at wherever one or both of us is eating after church.  Sometimes, it's in a downtown parking garage or on a random Wal Mart lot.  Sometimes, husband even makes the downtown deals for me since he works downtown, too.

I'm very happy with the way this quilt top turned out and can hardly wait to se it quilted. The colors show up better on the close ups and the first big picture.

UFO's for June

I really am accomplishing quite a bit with this UFO Challenge that I'm doing here:
www.apashionforapplique.blogspot.com

But.....I'm not finishing everything I'd like to in the month that I said I would.
Therefore, I'm going to try to finish a couple of things I've posted previously.

The second quilt for my new little granddaughter (due in August)  is well underway.  Since I'm hand appliquéing it, it's taking a little longer than others.  So here are the blocks I've finished so far:
And this table runner DID get quilted last month but is still without a binding.  So hopefully, I can get it done, too.
