Pain in the ....back

Last Friday I hurt my back while doing....laundry.  Yes, laundry.  A slight twist of the body to drop a shirt in a laundry basket and WHAM!!!!...I nearly went down.  Thankfully, my daughter Calista and my son Aaron were here and got me to a chair.  Then Aaron drove me to the chiropractor.  The next day, Tim drove me to the chiropractor.  Monday, Aaron drove me to the chiropractor and Wednesday, Aaron drove me to the chiropractor.  Tomorrow....well, you get the picture.  It's been a rough week.  I did manange to finish one of my applique borders.

Here's another block I finished but haven't shown yet.
Dr. Marshall says I should be feeling better soon and he's right.  I'm getting better every day.  To add to my dismay, we're having a going away party for Aaron tomorrow night (the Marines--remember?).  But I have good kids and all three of them pitched in today and cleaned the house. Andrea, the middle child was especially helpful (she made me say that).  The doctor says I should be totally back to normal in 2-4 weeks.  I'm hoping for sooner than that.

Good Times

What a day!  Leslie and I took a road trip to Hennessey, OK.  There's this guy--Kent.  He's special to me (now).  He tunes up sewing machines and he spent 2 hours tuning up mine.  It sings like a canary!

And ya know what else?  Leslie and I got to shop at the store where he works while he did his magic.  That's
Prairie Quilts.  And do they ever have some lovely fabric (a bit of which found it's way into my car).

Then...we drove home through Stillwater, OK, home of blogging buddy of mine, Ranette.  She met us at The Quilting Post (another fabulous shop) and we got to meet some of her friends and partners in quilting crime.
And then....SHE INVITED US TO HER HOME!   We got to see her quilting room(s) and many of her beautiful quilts.  Boy, was that fun!

Unfortunately, I forgot to take my camera.  So for your viewing pleasure...
GRANDKIDS!  Doing what they do best....

Looking like his Aunt Dre and being cute.

Looking like his Uncle Aaron and being silly.

Looking like his Popple and reading a book.

Fabric Collage

I finished my fabric collage and got it framed at Hobby Lobby.  I'm very pleased with the outcome.  It will hang in my "humility" room as my grandson Timothy calls it (utility room) and I'll get to look at it every time I do laundry...or go into the garage....or leave my house...or when I just want to go look at it.

My inspiration came from "Vertigo" by Kathy York in Quilting Arts Magazine --Feb/Mar 2009

Blocks

I went at least 10 days without even touching the sewing machine.  But I'm back at it.
I made some more of these:

And I finished a couple of these:
This red work is a long term project--one of those things that sits in a project bag all ready to go in case I don't have anything else to work on.  Which explains why it has taken me 2 years to finish 2 of these.

Blocks

Last week our second grandson, Timothy celebrated his 6th birthday.  He wanted a small quilt that he could take from room to room.  Calista and I decided on the Dr. Suess fabric for his birthday quilt.  And guess what?  We got it done in time for his birthday.  Quilted by Kat LeFevre.
