Leslie made this beautiful "joy" pillow for me. It's made of wool and is hand appliqued. For some reason the picture is on end and I don't know what to do about it!Monday, January 19, 2009
Christmas time
We started a new Christmas tradition about 3 or 4 years ago. We go out to eat on Chirstmas eve. Usually our kids are doing other things and the restaurants (those that are open) are usually quiet and family oriented on that evening. Last year, David and Leslie joined us so now they're part of the tradition. Her parents, Dixie and Bob were here from California so they joined us this year, too.

Here I am with Timothy and Gabe on Christmas morning. According to our (recent) family tradition, we open our gifts late in the morning after the Evraets arrive (they open their presents at home first). So here we are all cheery--anticipating what is to come very soon...
Another one of our traditions (for many, many years) is for Tim to read the Christmas story from the Bible before the gift frenzy begins. Our children have sat patiently and waited (not always happily) and this tradition has become one of our favorite parts of Christmas. As you can see...Timothy was not quite so patient and not so happy either.

Catching up on Christmas
Around our house we love the movie "White Christmas". We planned to have a White Christmas party this year, but time got away from us so we had our own private viewing. Andrea and Patrick joined us on Christmas eve and we dressed the parts. Here are my very own Bing Crosby (Tim, complete with hat from Vermont and pipe) and Danny Kaye (Aaron--hat from Vermont, too) I'm not as skinny as Vera and I don't dance. Come to think of it, I'm not blonde either nor do I look anything like her but I am wearing my cape from Vermont. So...there you have it!

This is my stitch group--T-Town Stitchers. We were having our annual Christmas party and gift exchange, this year at First Call. Then we left to go to June's house to continue the party. She was injured in a serious car accident before Thanksgiving and is still recovering at home. (Get well soon, June!). I've been really far behind in my blogging. Tim's parents have both been very ill and we've been in Missouri over the holidays. I'll add more as time permits.
