Purse

I almost have an obsession with purse patterns.  I buy them and put them in a drawer and wish that I would make myself one of them.  Well, this week I did.  Here is is.  And I love it.  It's "Grids and Grommets" by Indigo Junction.  It's pretty big, but I need a big purse.  Now I'm inspired to make another one of my cute patterns.  Wish I had time to do that.

Old Stuff

I was looking for something to post and came across these pictures of postcards I made back in 2006. I think they're pretty cute and I wish I would make some more of them because I mailed both of these to friends. But right now, I'm too excited to do much of anything... ...Tuesday is the day. I'll be a grandma--again. Or a "Mama T" as I'm called in this family.
Calista will be induced and I'll be taking care of her other two boys. I'm sure I'll be posting pictures by Wednesday. Stay tuned.

No rest for the wicked

I thought I might get rested up from all of my activity the last few weeks, but no. There's a new grandboy on the way and things must be ready. So I've been helping Calista.

I'll post more pictures of the quilt show soon.

Tomorrow I meet with my stitch group after I see the eye doctor. Did I mention I had cataract surgery last week?

Now, I'm off to bed.

Another quilt knocked of the "to do" list

I've just finished baby Wesley's quilt (he's due July 1st). Calista and I made it together. She did a lot of the piecing and designing (adding the stars to the pattern). I did the applique and the quilting. In the meantime, we were making these little aprons. She finished two to give to her son Timothy's preschool teachers. Today is his last day of school and he'll put on a little show for us this afternoon (along with his classmates--but I'LL see ONLY him! ha) at his graduation. I think you could use this apron around the house for carrying your cell phone, quilting tools (thimble, rotary cutter, etc). Teachers could use them on the playground for holding band-aids, rubber gloves (in case of blood) and tissues. This one is mine and I think I'll give it to a friend for her birthday.

In addition to the quilt, I've been making burp cloths, and we plan to get started on bumper pads and curtains soon. Busy times.

Bags

Another groovy bag finished. These are so quick and easy. I just love making them!

Exchange blocks

A few of us in my stitch group are exchanging blocks for monthly pillow covers. You can find the pattern for the pillow cover in the November 2009 issue of Green Country Quilters Guild newsletter at: www.greencountryquiltersguild.com
I made five of these 8 inch blocks and gave 4 of them away. Next month I hope to receive an 8 inch block for the month of March.

Not being one to follow directions, I made up my own pillow cover. I think it had something to do with the fact that I couldn't find a travel pillow the dimensions of the one on the pattern.

Thread Organization

Yippeee!!!! My friend Keith made this wonderful thread cabinet for me. It has a glass door (as you can probably see from the reflection) with lots of room for my threads. He made it so that the inner shelf section comes out in case I want to carry all those threads somewhere with me. No more jumbled mess in drawers! Thanks Keith.

More projects

I made a few more blocks for my Civil War Reproductions Birthday club. I'm keeping them simpler this year. Just a couple more and I'll be done for the year. Yeah!
I made just a couple more of the little makeup/project bags. I found this cool button to put on the one I made for myself.

Catching up on my Blog

I haven't been doing much quilting lately except for these little quilted cosmetic bags. My daughter, Calista is making them for her kids' school teachers and I'm helping her. They were so much fun that I ended up doing some for gifts, too. They're from the book, "Fat Quarter Fonts".

They only require 2 fat quarters and a zipper which is very easy to install. The insides are lined with the same fabric that the monogram is made of.

Maybe I'll make one for myself soon...Tomorrow (in my sewing room) she makes Christmas pajama pants for the men in her life (which includes boys). And did I mention that she's going to have a baby? Oh yeah, I'm going to be a Mama T again...around the 7th of July. Yippeee! A girl would be nice.
