National Quilt Museum

I've had the most wonderful two days! My husband took me to Paducah, Kentucky so we could see my quilt hanging in the National Quilt Museum. We took my BFF Leslie and her husband with us. We celebrated Valentine's Day on the road. It took us about 9 hours to get there but that included a stop at a little quilt shop in Birch Tree, Missouri.

On Friday Leslie and I spent a couple of hours at Hancock's of Paducah while the guys did other things. It's so overwhelming! There is SOOOO MUCH fabric there that the brain can't take it all in! We may have gone back a second time--while the guys did other things..

After lunch in historic downtown Paducah on the Ohio River we made our way over to the museum. I had emailed ahead to let them know we were coming but I was taken aback by the reception I had. I was treated like a celebrity! The CEO of the museum came out of his office and I was escorted in to see my quilt with the12 others of the "Quilts of the South Central US". Several of the employees and volunteers of the museum were there. We were allowed to take pictures and then the museum's photographer took pictures which she promptly posted on their Facebook page. We toured the museum with the guide who gave us lots of info on many of the quilts. It was wonderful experience that I will never forget.

Then, today my sister and her husband came down from Missouri and we girls went through the museum again. I was so happy to get to share this experience with Greta. I became an official "Friend of the Museum" and gave a donation in memory of my mom. Her name will go on the wall. It's only fitting that her name should be there since she's the one who taught me to sew. I can hardly wait to go back in the future to see it.
